Halcyon is a lively and diverse group offering a range of rambles to suit those who are reasonably fit. An annual subscription (currently £5.00) is collected each April - those joining between January and March get up to 15 months membership for the price of 12. We operate a policy where guests may walk with the Club for up to three rambles before the Treasurer requests subscriptions – ‘try before you buy’!

Please have a look at our programme and if you would like to join one of our walks then either contact the walk leader or e-mail the Club Secretary ( for further details. Our aim is to have a ‘good day out’, enjoy the company, the scenery and make the most of whatever the weather throws at us.

Members/guests are asked to make their own way to the start of walks, but we do ‘car share’ wherever possible.

Guests should be suitably attired for the conditions – strong boots or walking shoes and wet weather gear are recommended items whereas trainers, jeans etc. are not considered appropriate - and bring sufficient food and drink to last the day. The Club generally welcomes guests with dogs but would request that they are kept under control at all times. Children should be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Our varied programme offers a full-day walk every Sunday, and also Wednesday morning rambles (followed by an optional pub lunch) every two or three weeks, throughout the year.  From April/May to August there are short walks on Friday evenings, usually ending at a convenient hostelry.

The Club's social calendar includes weekends away organised in Spring and Autumn, a Club BBQ , ‘big day out’ and ‘summer social’ both of which are followed by an evening meal, ‘end of year get-together’, a ‘mince pie ramble’ and finally our New Year’s lunch. Club members also organise other events on an ad hoc basis.

New members and guests are always welcome and we look forward to meeting you.
